Turkish giants Besiktas are toying with the idea of adding former Super Eagles and Chievo midfield workhorse, Joel Obi to its arsenals.

According to TG GIALLOBLU’s report, Beşiktaş are already in talks with Joel who previously had a loan stint with Alanyaspor in 2019 under coach Sergen Yalçın and later returned to Chievo to continue his career.

He however failed to live up to expectations for the Mediterranean team where he played just two Super League matches throughout his six months stay in Turkey.

Fanatik reported that Joel Obi was determined to leave Chievo before the transfer period ended, and Besiktas have stepped up their chase after Spezia slowed down talks with the midfielder who was capped 17 times by Nigeria.

Turkey is fast becoming the Mecca of Nigerian footballers with more players likely to seal fresh deal with Super Lig clubs in the coming weeks.

While Galatassaray recently added Super Eagles midfield general Oghenekaro Etebo to its long lists of new signings on Wednesday evening, Turkish Super Lig league will also parade the likes of Brown Ideye (Göztepe) this season.

With Abdulahi Shehu and Kenneth Omeruo linked with a return back to Turkey, not less than 22 Nigerian have plied their trades in the Ottoman nation till date.
