Ahead of the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Paris, Brittney Griner has renewed her contract with the Phoenix Mercury, her WNBA team of long standing.
Last season, Griner made a comeback to play with the Mercury following her release from wrongful detention in Russia in December 2022.
In 2023, she boasted an average of 17.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, securing second place in the league for field goal percentage (56.0%) and third in blocks (1.6). She holds the third position on the WNBA’s all-time blocks list.
At 33 years old and entering her 11th season, Griner is a nine-time WNBA All-Star and clinched a WNBA title in 2014. Additionally, she has earned two Olympic gold medals as a member of Team USA.
