In-form striker Taiwo Awoniyi netted his third goal of the Bundesliga season as Union Berlin edged Monchengladbach 2-1 on Sunday to record their first win of the new campaign, Completesports reports.
Awoniyi has now scored a goal in each of Union Berlin’s opening three games in the league.
Also, he has scored five goals in six appearances in all competitions for his side so far this season.
The 24-year-old got Union Berlin’s second goal in the 40th minute after Niko Giesselmann opened the scoring on 22 minutes.
Monchengladbach pulled a goal back through Jonas Hofmann in one minute of added time.
Sunday’s win took Union Berlin to eight position on five points in the league table after three games played.
