Cameroon Defeats Gambia

After coming within minutes of losing to Gambia in the Africa Cup of Nations finals, Cameroon rallied with two goals in the last minutes to win 3-2 and move on from Group C.

With a thrilling goal in stoppage time, defender Christopher Wooh moved the Indomitable Lions to second place in the group, behind Senegal. They were victorious over Guinea in terms of goals scored, whereas

The Gambia national team was eliminated following their third straight defeat, which led to the resignation of head coach Tom Saintfiet shortly after the final whistle.

With just five minutes remaining, Cameroon found themselves trailing 2-1 and needed to fight their way back in a match of intense attack and end-to-end play to save some pride.

Despite being 80 places lower in the FIFA rankings than their much-maligned opponents, Gambia had dominated the first half of play. However, Cameroon came out swinging after the break, with Georges-Kevin Nkoudou rattling the crossbar in the 50th minute and setting up the first goal for Karl Toko Ekambi six minutes later.

However, the Cameroon defense appeared uneasy due to a sudden rush of assault from Gambia, so it was not surprising when Ablie Jallow equalized in the 72nd minute with a deft volley after ghosting late into the area.

When James Gomez attempted to clear the ball and instead extended his leg to steer it into his own net, Cameroon leveled the score with two minutes remaining.
