Edinson Cavani is open to extending his contract at Paris Saint-Germain despite interest from Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, according to reports.

The striker’s current deal is set to expire in the summer and he has been linked with a move away from the French champions after almost departing in the January window.

But according to L’Equipe, the forward may have changed his mind after originally being set on leaving.

The report claims Cavani is no longer reluctant at the idea of extending his deal after being involved with the squad a lot more since January.

PSG director Leonardo is also thought to be open to the possibility with the club set for a difficult summer due to the financial impact of coronavirus.

The chief has reportedly had to revise the club’s transfer plans with big-money deals unrealistic. Mauro Icardi is currently on-loan from Inter Milan but L’Equipe claim PSG could look to save around £60million by keeping Cavani rather than pursuing a permanent deal for the Argentinian.

Cavani was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in January but a move failed to materialise and he ended up staying in Paris.

The Uruguay forward seven goals and three assists in all competitions this season.

France’s Ligue 1 was cancelled at the end of April due to the pandemic with PSG being awarded the title.
