While the year is just getting started, some of our celebrities have found themselves as the subject of conversations ranging from their personal beliefs to being at the centre of a celebration.

Here is a rundown of the week:

The Moral “Transaction”

 

When Falz announced the release of his socio-political themed album titled “Moral Instruction” via his Instagram account, many were excited to see what the new “Fela” would drop. True to the album’s name, it bothered on conversations around politics, corruption, prostitution, social injustice and fraud. The album’s cover art was also designed by the legendary art illustrator, Lemi Ghariokwu who is renowned for designing most of the works for the Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s albums. However, people were offended with his disregard for transactional sex saying that anyone can do as she deems fit with her body.

Fenty war

 

In a surprising lawsuit, pop sensation, Rihanna has slammed her father, Ronald Fenty and his business partner, Moses Joktan Perkins with a lawsuit for allegedly misrepresenting their ties “to solicit millions of dollars from unsuspecting third parties”. She alleges that her father and his business partner have fraudulently misrepresented to third parties and the public that their company is affiliated with her. It is also learnt that they allegedly “accepted” concert deals one of which includes Rihanna to play 15 shows in Latin America for $15 million (N5.4 billion).

Hugging palava

An Egyptian university overturned its decision to expel a male student over hugging his female friend on campus. The young man Mahmoud appeared in a video carrying a bouquet of flowers kneeling before a woman and then hugging her. The viral footage prompted the expulsion of both students from their respective universities. However, the Mansoura university in northern Egypt reversed its decision and banned him from taking the semester’s exams. A day later, Al-Azhar university in Cairo said that the female student would be prevented for taking the first half of her exams.

We hear wedding bells!

Four months after Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got married in a NYC court, they are reportedly set to have a grand wedding. According to a report by Page Six, the Canadian singer and American supermodel will finally celebrate their marriage with family and friends on February 28. Already, the Beibers have sent “Save The Date” cards for their epic bash, although a location was not specified. A source close to the couple told Hollywoodlife, “The plan is for it to be an intimate but celebratory affair with close family and friends attending.”

And the Grammy Awards host is…

Multiple Grammy award-winning songstress, Alicia Keys has been announced as the host of the 2019 Grammy Awards that is scheduled to take place on February 10th at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. The “Girl on Fire” hitmaker made the announcement today via a video on her YouTube channel. “I’m soooo excited to announce that I’ll be hosting the 61st Annual Grammy Awards ?!!… I know what it feels like to be on that stage and I know what it feels like to be proud of the work that you’ve put in, and to be recognised for it… This is a first.”
