Chelsea have already made two significant moves ahead of the transfer window opening later this summer with the additions of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

However, there are likely to be several more comings and goings at Stamford Bridge with several targets still in sight and a number of players fighting for their futures at the club.

Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz has been strongly linked with a move to west London and there has been another indicator of his future beyond this campaign, along with updates on several players who face uncertain futures at the Bridge.

Here is the latest transfer news surrounding Frank Lampard’s side.

Valencia interest in Kepa

Valencia are interested in Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga with his future at Stamford Bridge far from certain.

Football Espana cite a report from Marca that Los Che are considering a two-year loan deal for the Spain international, with a purchase option likely to be included.

Kepa’s form has been questioned since his £71.6million switch to Stamford Bridge from Athletic Bilbao in 2018.

Indeed, 38-year-old shot-stopper Willy Caballero was afforded a run of matches in February for crucial games against Leicester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Bayern Munich – although Kepa was later restored to the role.

Watford, Newcastle in for Bakayoko

Tiemoue Bakayoko returns to Chelsea this summer following his season-long loan stint at Monaco, but he could be on the move to another Premier League club.

According to Le10Sport, via football.london, Newcastle and Watford are the latest two clubs to enter the race for the Frenchman.

Bakayoko’s form has subsequently improved during loan spells at Milan and back at Monaco but not enough to justify his £40m price tag or indeed any long-term future at Chelsea, and a summer exit looks likely.

Bayer Leverkusen boss on Havertz future

Chelsea are being strongly linked with a big-money move for Bayer Leverkusen ace Kai Havertz, and the Bundesliga side’s boss Peter Bosz has discussed the German star’s future.

Havertz is widely expected to leave Leverkusen at the end of the season with the Blues and Real Madrid among the clubs interested.

And Bosz was coy when quizzed on the 21-year-old’s future.

“I certainly don’t have the impression that this will be his last game for the club,” Bosz said, in quotes cited by the Express after Leverkusen’s final game of the Bundesliga season, a 1-0 win over Mainz.

“He is still under contract with us and I have to assume that he will be with us next season too.

“That will include the German Cup final next month and the next Europa League game against Rangers in August.

“Of course, that’s all dependent on nothing happening before then.”

Di Matteo tried to sign Werner twice

Former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has revealed he was twice unsuccessful in attempts to sign Timo Werner.

The German international is joining Chelsea this summer, but Di Matteo – who guided the Blues to their only ever Champions League title eight years ago – tried to recruit him when in charge of Aston Villa and Schalke.

“When I was at Schalke he was at Stuttgart and he was just coming on to the scene,” explained Di Matteo, via Chelsea’s club site.

“During the second part of the season, before I left, I was planning with my sporting director.

“I was saying I wanted to sign this guy, he’s good. He was young, quick, technically good. I said ‘can we not sign this boy Timo’.

“We didn’t in the end and then I resigned and so on. Then I went to Villa. Stuttgart, the season after, they got relegated, and so I enquired again to sign him, but then Leipzig signed him on.”

Werner scored with his final touch as an RB Leipzig player to ensure he leaves the club as their all-time top scorer with 95 goals.

He scored his 27th and 28th goals of the season to secure a 2-1 win over Augsburg in Leipzig’s final game of the Bundesliga season.
