Commonwealth Games 2022: Team Nigeria’s Nwachukwu Sets World Records To Win Gold In Discuss

Goodness Nwachukwu was at her imperious best as she won gold medal in the women’s discuss event at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The Nigerian Para-athlete broke the world record with her first throw in the event of (34.84m).

Nwachukwu then bettered that mark, setting a new WR of 36.86m which set her on course for the gold medal after just two attempts.

Team Nigeria is also guaranteed two medals from boxing after Elizabeth Oshoba and Cynthia Ogunsemilore won their quarter-final bouts.

Oshoba defeated Tiana Guy 3-2 on points in the 54kg-57kg featherweight category, while Ogunsemilore scored a knockout against Aratwa Kasemang in the 57kg – 60kg Lightweight category.

Team Nigeria will hope for more better outings on Friday (today) with more events expected to come up.

100m hurdles world record holder, Tobi Amusan will be in action, while her bossom friend, Ese Brume will be competing in the women’s long jump.
