Dismissed ExxonMobil Staff Firm in Nigeria was seen protesting seriously in front of the Company’s headquarters in Nigeria.
The staff who were mostly aged men ranging from 55 and above were seen with their red polos dancing with loud musical instruments in what was seen to be a form of a peaceful solidarity protest. Most of them were seen with gloomy faces looking very depressed.
“We were about 860 when we were sacked 18 years ago illegally. We went to court, and the Supreme Court demanded that we get reinstated or our dues fully paid to us. We won the case, but ExxonMobil has totally neglected the Court’s judgement. Right now, just 510 of us are still alive, with the others dead; yet no payment from the management of ExxonMobile. This is a slap on the faces of people who worked hard and gave their best to their jobs, yet we ended up like this. It is also a slap on the face of our judiciary”
The question remains “Why is ExxonMobil still owing these dismissed staff their dues 18 years later, despite the Supreme court giving an injunction for them to be paid?”
All efforts to speak to any of the Exxon Mobile management proved abortive as at this time of reporting.
What happens to these people who are still being owed their dues?
