Resident doctors in the Alex Ekweme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki numbering over two hundred, Monday, embarked on a 3-day warning strike.

The strike, according to investigation resulted in the partial shut down of work and other activities going on in the hospital.

According to the striking doctors, the warning strike followed the alleged refusal of the management of the hospital to pay them all arrears of their salary shortfall.

An eyewitness who spoke to DAILY POST at the hospital said, “Resident doctors of Alex Ekwueme University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki have embarked on a 3-day warning strike.

“The strike is as a result of the refusal of the management of the hospital to pay the doctors their arrears of salary shortfall,” he said.

All efforts to reach the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Emeka Ogah at the time of filing this report was unsuccessful as he was not responding to calls put across to his phone.
