Our Nigeria entertainment industry is no doubt becoming vast and highly referred globally. Though rarely mentioned, roles played by record label bosses have immensely impacted the industry towards the global fame that we see today. As written by Thisday’s Sunday Ehigiator, In the course of their navigation in the music industry, these Greats have contributed immensely towards projecting others artistes in their ilk. They have no doubt, made the Nigerian entertainment industry blossom beyond the borders Nigeria and still promote younger acts.

To mention but few, Michael Collins Ajereh known professionally as Don Jazzy, is a Nigerian record producer, audio engineer, record executive, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the founder and the Chief Executive Officer, Mavin Records, currently promoting artistes like Rema.

David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known as Davido, is a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is one of the most influential artists in Africa. Davido rose to fame after releasing “Dami Duro”, the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo (2012). He then founded the record label Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), to which acts Dremo, Mayorkun, and Peruzzi have been signed.

Enterprising and innovative Adesotu Jesse Woghiren, professionally known as The BB02, is one of our favourite in the Diaspora who has been pushing Nigeria’s culture and tradition to the entire world through entertainment for as long as we remember. He owns Nigerian-American entertainment outfit; Bigmanity Music and has blessed us with the likes of Sukeez of Winter Vibes fame and Gabby Iriah artistically known as Gabby ZZ (Heaven Where You Dey).

Olamide Adedeji popularly known as Olamide, Baddo, or BaddoSneh is a Nigerian hip hop recording artist. He records in Yoruba, and English was released under his label imprint Yahoo Boy No Laptop Nation, popularly known as YBNL Nation or simply YBNL currently promoting DJ Enimoney, Fireboy DML, B.Banks, as signed acts.

Ayodeji Balogun known as Wizkid is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Wizkid is the most decorated African artist internationally, and one of the most revolutionary Afro-pop artists of the modern era. Wizkid established his label imprint Starboy Entertainment signed Maleek Berry and Legendury Beatz, L.A.X, Efya, R2Bees, and Mr Eazi; he recently signed promising Terri into the Starboy Entertainment empire.

Iledare Oluwajuwonlo better known as Jaywon is a singer, songwriter, performer, producer and actor. He launched his record label named Next World Music in 2013 after his exit from Kennis Music. In 2019, he signed a talented kid on his label, SaveFame and he has released songs like StaySafe, Natty and MyFamily

Naira Marley born Azeez Adeshina Fashola is a singer and songwriter. He is known as the president of his controversial fan base, “Marlians.” has officially floated ‘Marlian Records’. The singer has also signed four new artistes, Zinoleesky, Mohbad, Cblack, and Fabian to his music imprint.
