As earlier reported by FCNaija on Wednesday, Demir Grup Sivasspor have signed Super Eagles fringe striker Olarenwaju Kayode today on a season loan deal.
According to the statement made public by the club on Thursday, the red-whites reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk to release the former Manchester City player on loan for the 2020-2021 season with no option to buy. Kayode came to Sivas and signed the official contract, which was witnessed by Sivasspor Club Deputy Chairman Erdal Sarılar.Fanatik had reported on Wednesday that the Shakhtar Donetsk striker tops Sivasspor’s lists of wanted strikers and the club eggheads are working round the clock to meet the players’ asking price. It would be recalled that Alanyaspor failed to retain the Nigeria after a successful loan stint following a deadlock over what the player would earn this season. Kayode had demanded for an increase in his pay, but the club failed to meet his demand, citing financial meltdown owing to Covid-19 global impact as reasons behind it’s decision. The 27 years old former Luzern striker played 27 league games for Gaziantep FK, while on loan stint last season and scored 10 goals with 6 assists.
His loan deal at Shakhtar was made permanent at the end of that season after he scored two goals in six league appearances after he joined the Ukrainian side from Manchester City in 2018. The former Austria Win forward who once represented Nigeria at youth levels (U-17, U-20 and U-23) has been capped four times by the senior side, the Super Eagles.
