Super Eagles invitee, Cyriel Dessers missed a penalty as KRC Genk lost 2-1 at home against Club Brugge in a Jupiler League match played on Sunday.

In the absence of Paul Onuachu, Dessers was given the nod in attack by manager Hannes Wolf but it was the game he had hoped for inside the empty Luminus Arena.

Interestingly, Club Brugge had two Nigerians in their squad, David Okereke and Emmanuel Dennis. It was the later that had an early impact when his cross found the head of Hans Vanaken to head the away side in front.

The home side got a chance to equalize after referee Bram Van Driessche award them a penalty but Dessers failed to convert the chance as the first half ended 1-0.

Genk had another penalty in the second half and midfielder Theo Bongonda stepped up to finish with aplomb. But with the game heading for a draw, Youssouph Badji scored a late winner for Club Brugge.

Emmanuel Dennis lasted for 75 minutes while the other Nigerians involved played for 90minutes as Club Brugge picked their first win in the 2020/2021 season.
