Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state on Tuesday said Pastor Osagie Ize- Iyamu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won’t score up to 30 percent votes in the September 19 governorship election in the state.

Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Crusoe Osagie, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications said Obaseki currently enjoys up to 80 percent approval ratings in the state.

While rubbishing the claim by Yekini Nabena, the APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary that incumbency factor won’t save the governor, he said they are confident that President Muhammadu Buhari will allow for a free and fair election in the state and will not allow those clamouring for federal might to have their way.

“President Buhari will allow Edo people to exercise their franchise freely and we are confident that when that is done, Governor Obaseki is going to emerge the winner of the election”.

“As we speak today, Obaseki has approval rating of not less than 75 to 80 percent. If the election were conducted today, Ize-Iyamu will not score up to 30 percent of the votes. I can excuse Yekini Nabena because he is faraway in Abuja and doesn’t know the reality on the ground”.

He should go to the markets in Benin, he should visits the motor parks, beer parlours and ask people questions. Out of every 10 persons you ask a question about who they want to vote for, not less than seven of them want to vote for the governor”.

“As far as we are concerned, the election is done and dusted. We are waiting for the election to come and we are confident that Governor Obaseki will win by a landslide”.
