Ex-Blues Captain Terry Reacts To The Speculation Linking Silva To Stamford Bridge

Former Chelsea captain John Terry has reacted to the speculation linking Thiago Silva to the Stamford Bridge team.

Terry has given his approval to the club to seal the deal to sign the veteran defender from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

Terry, clearly an admirer of the Brazil international, ‘liked’ the post, along with young midfielder Billy Gilmour.

Chelsea has been without a true leader in the defence after Terry left the club in 2017 but Chelsea is reportedly close on signing the Paris Saint-Germain captain Silva, 35, who has emerged as Frank Lampard’s top target.

Silva spent eight years with Paris Saint-Germain but was unable to crown it with the Champions League title after his team suffered a 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich on Sunday.

The match against Bayern Munich was the last match for the former AC Milan defender for Paris Saint-Germain.

It was widely spread that Chelsea has agreed on a two-year contract with Silva and that the centre-half is ready to take a pay cut to push through a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is keen strengthening his defensive line and he is determined to sign an experienced centre back with Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta his only current options over the age of 25.

Chelsea will start their Premier League campaign against Brighton and Hove Albion on September 14.
