Excitement As ‘Clothe A School Child Initiative’ Embarks On Another Campaign In Plateau (Photos)

The Clothe a School Child Initiative, a non profit organisation that distributes free school uniforms to underprivileged school children, has embarked on another campaign to Abwor Dyis in Pankshin LGA.

The outreach is the first for this year and third in the series since the organisation was set up. The beneficiaries of the latest campaign were school children of Child friendly Initiative Primary School and RCM Transfer Primary School all in Abwor Dyis of Pankshin LGA. Brand new school uniforms, socks and shoes were given to 50 students from each of the schools and both students and teachers alike were given 1000 deworming tablets as part of the organisations desire to enhance learning capabilities of these children.

The event began with the arrival of the Clothe the School Child Initiative members along with representatives of collaborators; Samaritan feet organisation and Hoomkwap Humanitarian Foundation and other partners including Dr Pannan Dayom. The team was welcomed by the Head Teacher of the Child friendly Initiative Primary School Mr Toktur Longji who in a  welcome address appreciated the team for bringing their humanitarian efforts to their doorstep.

In an introductory remark, the founder and  coordinator of the Clothe a School Child Initiative Dr Cornelius Gofung introduced the group and collaborators and explained the purpose of the organisation and the visit. He expressed delight at being able to bring the impact of the initiative to the schools. He indulged the schools through the staff present to ensure the sustainability of the project and to not relent in their duties as custodians of the leaders of tomorrow.

The team

The team then proceeded to the assembly ground of the school where the students of both schools were already arranged and waiting. After being addressed by the Head Teacher and the coordinator of the Clothe the School Child Initiative, the distribution of the new school uniforms commenced. The students awarded new uniforms were pre selected based on the need for the uniforms. The distribution was closely followed by a photograph session which saw the school children now donning their new uniforms posing ecstatically to the delight of all present.

During a closing session between staff of schools and the partners, the PTA Chairman of Child Primary Care Initiative Dyis, Mr Dedan Gupar was full of joy and expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the two schools present for the intervention. He prayed for God’s blessings on the organisers and urged them to continue in their efforts to impact the lives of underprivileged children.
