Joao Felix sprained ligaments in his left knee during Atletico Madrid’s training session on Monday and that will keep him on the sidelines for roughly three weeks.

In principle, the 20-year-old will not miss any game time as Los Rojiblancos’ first LaLiga Santander match after the restart will come away at Athletic Club in just under three weeks’ time.

“Joao Felix has suffered a low grade medial collateral ligament left knee sprain, as confirmed by tests he underwent at the Clinica Universidad de Navarra,” Atletico’s statement read.

This is the third injury suffered by Joao Felix in his first season at Atletico.

First it was a sprained ankle against Valencia that made him miss four games in LaLiga Santander and two in the Champions League.

Then, a muscle injury before the Madrid derby at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu saw him miss three league games and the Champions League first leg against Liverpool.

These two ailments mean that Joao Felix has only been able to play in 28 games so far this season.
