Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United could line-up with a ‘mouthwatering’ front-six that includes Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho next season.

In an interview with FIVE’s Youtube Channel, the United defender is hopeful Pogba will remain at Old Trafford to be part of the project Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is building.

If the club can hold on to the Frenchman and lure Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, Ferdinand said the ability of the front-line would be ‘ridiculous’.

‘If I was looking at the team now and you have McTominay with Bruno [Fernandes] on one side of the three and Pogba on the other…

Rashford up front, Martial on the left, James or Sancho if they buy him on the right.

‘You can’t tell me other midfielders aren’t going to be thinking, ‘if these lot are on fire today we’re going to have to be on a game, it’s going to be a hard day work for us’.

‘There’s ability there, it’s ridiculous.

‘If they can find that cohesion, the team set-up for them to flourish, it’s mouthwatering what could happen.’

Dortmund are reportedly open to selling Sancho if United break their transfer record which is currently the £89million paid for Pogba in 2016.

Sancho has several clubs chasing him with Chelsea and Real Madrid also keen on the forward after another impressive season in the Bundesliga.

The 20-year-old netted 14 league goals and provided 16 assists before the season was suspended due to coronavirus.

Ferdinand admitted the possibility of signing the youngster and keeping Pogba are subject to a number of factors.

“It’s if, buts and maybes.

“We need Paul Pogba fit, we need him in that team and to see what he’s like to see if the relationship can be built with the players and the players ole is acquiring now.

‘It’s up to Paul Pogba. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the powers that be at the club whether Paul Pogba stays at the football club then we see.’

Pogba has been heavily linked with a move away from United after missing the majority of the season with an ankle injury.

Real Madrid and Juventus are two of the clubs who have been linked with the midfielder.
