FIFA Ban Musa For 10 Years Over Ebola Fund Theft
Executive Committee member of the Confederation of African Football and former president of Liberian Football Association Musa Hassan Bility has been banned by FIFA with a 10-year ban and a fine amounting to $507,150 over Ebola fund theft.
The 52-year-old African football official was been investigated by the world football governing body in May 2018 over Ebola awareness measures was formed in November 2014, near the peak of a pandemic that killed more than 11,000 people across Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.According to a FIFA press release, Bility was “guilty of having misappropriated FIFA funds as well as having received benefits and found himself in situations of conflict of interest, in violation of the FIFA Code of Ethics.”
The statement read: “The adjudicatory chamber found that Bility had breached art. 28 (Misappropriation of funds), art. 20 (Offering and accepting gifts or other benefits) and art. 19 (Conflicts of interest) of the 2018 edition of the FIFA Code of Ethics and sanctioned him with a ten-year ban from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international level. In addition, a fine in the amount of $507,150 has been imposed on Mr. Bility.”Bility had attempted to run as a candidate to replace FIFA’s disgraced former president Sepp Blatter in a 2015 campaign ultimately won by Gianni Infantino but he was barred at the time from contesting after failing to pass integrity tests.The decision was notified to Bility this Wednesday and the sanctions take immediate effect.
