Jose Enrique has revealed how he was repeatedly left amazed by the fitness levels of Liverpool star James Milner at both Anfield and at Newcastle United.
The 34-year-old full-back played with Milner at both clubs during his time in the Premier League and says that despite having trained and played with hundreds of players during his 16-year career, nobody has ever run as hard and as far as Milner.
Milner is undoubtedly one of the most physically fit players in professional football at the moment, despite being one of Liverpool’s most senior stars.
But the former Leeds United star has made 33 appearances already this term and looks set to remain a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans until at least 2022.
“I been very lucky to play with Milner in two different clubs. at Newcastle and Liverpool,” Enrique told his Instagram followers.
“I have to tell you, in all my career as a player I never seen anyone run as much as him.
“No matter what position you play him in he does well and when the game is finished it looks like he could run home too after it and play another game at home.”
He added: “[He is a] very underrated player and he has played for top clubs and won trophies.”
