Former Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini has been confirmed
positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), her became the second Serie A
player to contract the virus after Juventus star Daniele Rugani.
with Inter being forced into isolation after having come into contact
with the Italian defender during their recent Derby d’Italia defeat to
Juventus.
“Sampdoria reports that Manolo Gabbiadini has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19),” the club statement read.
Gabbiadini has a slight fever, but he is otherwise fine.
The club is activating all isolation procedures as set out by the authorities.
The former Southampton player stated his Twitter account after the revelation.
I’ve tested positive for coronavirus,” Gabbiadini’s tweet read.
I want to thank you all for the many messages I’ve received.
I also want to let you know that I’m fine, so don’t worry.
“Follow the rules: stay at home and everything will work out.”
