Antoine Griezmann is going through a tough spell at Barcelona, which reached a new low on Tuesday night as he was brought on in the 89th minute during a 2-2 draw against former team Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou.
Quique Setien has opted to leave the 120 million euro signing on the bench in three of the last four games, and he was made to warm up on the sidelines for the entire second half against Los Rojiblancos before coming on.
Now, Griezmann’s family have come out against Setien on social media.
The Barcelona coach said after the Atletico match that he would speak to the France international but would not apologise, which led to Griezmann’s father, Alaine, posting a screenshot of Setien’s comments with a message of his own on Instagram before later deleting it.
“In order to speak you must have the keys to the truck, and you are simply a passenger,” Griezmann’s father wrote.
The brother of the former Atletico star also showed his indignation on Tuesday night by posting on Twitter about the forward’s lack of game time against Los Colchoneros.
“Two minutes… I want to cry, seriously,” Griezmann’s brother, Theo, tweeted.
Setien has also had problems with Arthur Melo’s mother recently, after she hit back at the coach for stating that the Brazilian had not been performing well.
