Gunmen Kill Ex-Prison Boss, Dr. Adewale Oloyede And His Orderly In Kogi

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers  on Monday, shot dead a retired
Deputy Controller General of Nigeria Prisons Service, Dr. Adewale
Oloyede, in Kogi state.

The Public Relations Officer of the NPS, Francis Enobore, who
disclosed this in a statement on Monday evening, said Dr. Oloyede was
killed alongside his orderly, Dauda Michael by yet to be identified
gunmen, near Osara town in Kogi state.

Narrating the incident, Mr Enobore said the medical doctor was
travelling to Lagos in his private car when they were attacked at about 3
pm last Friday (1st February, 2019).

Late Oloyede headed the Directorate of Health and Social Welfare for several years before retiring in 2007.

Until his tragic death, he was a member of the National Stakeholders
Committee on Prisons Reform and Decongestion under the chairmanship of
the Federal Capital Territory Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Ishaq Bello.

A colleague, Oladokun took to Facebook to mourn the deceased. He wrote:

“The song in my dream, like a funeral dirge, was terminated by an
early morning phone call with the horrible news that the eagle in
person of our Dr. Adewale Oloyede (DCG/Retd) is no more; no thanks to
the bullets of the highway robbers. The tear that flows down the faces of
parting lovers is like a compact that no joy shall dwell there until
they meet again. Those who extinguished your life failed to realize they
cannot kill the soul as your spirit matches on still. Adieu sir!!!
