Arsene Wenger had wanted to land Anthony Martial, not Henrikh Mkhitaryan, when Arsenal did a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez in 2018.

ESPN reports that the Gunners asked for a France international winger when entering talks with Manchester United, but were told he was not available.
