Nigeria’s number one man, President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday told world leaders at the ongoing 76th United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, in New York, that he built hospitals across Nigeria to fight COVID-19.

The President said in a bid to curtail the COVID:19 pandemic which halted economic and other activities across the globe in 2020 and early2021, that his administration was able to put up medical facilities across Nigeria.

During the address, President Buhari who assured the Assembly of the full support and cooperation of the Nigerian delegation revealed that his government had trained over 40,000 health care workers on the prevention of infections.

He said, “In addition, over 40,000 health care workers have recently been trained on Infection, Prevention and Control measure with the support of various partners. Through the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, we have established 16 infectious disease treatment centres located within our Teaching Hospitals and Federal Medical Centres.

“We built isolation centres and emergency hospital wards in record time all over the country. We carry out genomic sequencing in designated laboratories across the country with a view to detecting variants in circulation.
