The capital of Kwara State, Ilorin, was struck by tragedy on Monday when a tree collapsed in the Sango section of the town, killing two people—including a woman—and injuring ten more.
Sources claim that the event happened at about eight in the morning at the side of the road close to a gas station across from the town’s Oke Adini Junction.
It was also discovered that nearby stores and electrical wires were damaged by the falling tree.

According to a source, “the tree fell on the deceased and the injured people as they were waiting by the roadside beside the gas station to board commercial vehicles to their various destinations.”
The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and the state hospital received the seriously injured patients, while about ten wounded were evacuated to a nearby hospital and treated with first aid.
The incident was confirmed by SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the public relations officer for the state police.
