Amaechi had led a delegation of Igbo leaders under the aegis of Highly-Respected Igbo Greats to visit Buhari and demand Kanu’s release toward the end of his tenure.
During the meeting, Amaechi had urged Buhari to order Kanu’s release to forestall insecurity in the Southeast.
However, Adesina said Buhari informed the delegation that the request was extremely difficult due to the implications.
Quoting Buhari, Adesina said: “You have made an extremely difficult demand on me as the leader of this country. The implication of your request is very serious.
