One of its members was murdered by the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) for misappropriating funds.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency specialist, revealed this in a tweet on Tuesday.
Makama claims that the slain ISWAP member was given money to buy food items but instead used it for personal expenses.
According to the counter-insurgency expert, the victim was killed at Ajikur in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State after being bound for nearly two hours.
The epicenter of the insurgency in Nigeria lies in the northeastern state of Borno.
“ISWAP terrorists murdered one of their own for stealing money. The ISWAP member was given money to buy meals, but instead used it for personal expenses, the poster wrote.
The member was killed in Ajikur, in the Damboa LGA, after being bound for almost two hours.
A clash between the two camps in Borno state resulted in the deaths of many group members and Boko Haram terrorists a few weeks prior.
Since both camps split apart over leadership concerns, the competing parties have been attacking communities in the Northeast.
Since then, there have been skirmishes between the groups, and Abubakar Shekau, the commander of Boko Haram, is believed to have died in one of these clashes in 2021.
