Italian national team and AS Roma forward Nicolò Zaniolo had a successful surgery in the left knee in Austria.
The Roma star ruptured his ACL during Azzurri’s 1-0 win against Holland in the UEFA Nations League, was operated by Professor Christian Fink in Innsbruck. The midfielder underwent surgery in Innsbruck, Austria on Sunday and the rehabilitation period starts immediately.
He said from his hospital bed: “The countdown begins! Perfectly successful intervention,” Zaniolo wrote on Instagram. “A big hug to all those who wrote me to ask how I was.
“They were tough days but also thanks to you, in the end, it was less difficult. From now on, I count down to go back to doing what I love… “That is, playing with the Roma shirt and cheering with you. Always forza Roma, madly in love with this shirt.”
Zaniolo has been capped only seven times by Italy, appeared in eight Serie A games for Roma towards the end of last season, after his recovery from the serious injury he suffered in a 2-1 defeat to Juventus on January 12.
