Alex Iwobi made second-half substitute appearances as Everton beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park to top Premier League table.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side grabbed the lead on the 10th minute when a superb pass from former Real Madrid player James Rodriguez found the overlapping Seamus Coleman who slipped the ball across for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score for the third straight league game.

Palace drew level in simple fashion though with Senegal skipper Cheikhou Kouyate heading in an Andros Townsend corner at the back post.

But five minutes before the interval Everton won by a controversial penalty awarded referee Kevin Friend after Joel Ward had handled the ball in the box area from Lucas Digne header.

Midweek two-goal hero for Everton Richarlison step forward to convert the spot-kick but Super Eagles star Iwobi come on in the 86 minutes to replace Rodriguez.

Palace dominated after the break but Everton defended well to maintain their 100% record.

Everton are top of the table after round fixture of the day with West Ham in the Carabao Cup next before Brighton in the Premier League.
