After a big money move in the summer to Atletico Madrid, Joao Felix has found it difficult to settle in to life at Los Rojiblancos, enduring a staccato beginning to his Atletico Madrid career.
However, the spotlight was on him in Wednesday’s match against Osasuna as the Portuguese excelled and scored two goals.
“We needed that victory to lift the squad’s morale and for me it was a great confidence boost,” he said afterwards.
“We played simple football and converted the chances we had, something that sometimes hasn’t happened in the past.
“Personally, it was fantastic for me after three months without playing and scoring two goals gives me confidence to improve as a player.”
Joao Felix was also asked about his club’s chances of securing a Champions League spot.
“What we all want is to fight for a Champions League spot and be able to play next year in the competition,” Felix said.
Atletico Madrid take on Real Valladolid on Saturday as Los Rojiblancos return to football at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
