Jomurota Community Care Initiative Commissions Education Block Grant Project At Angwan kwaso, Tunga Maje, Abuja [See Photos]

On Tuesday, 12th of February, 2019, JCCI management and staff left for the block granting commissioning at L.E.A Primary School, Angwan Kwaso, Tunga Maje. The block of 3 classrooms that was built by JOMUROTA COMMUNITY CARE INITIATIVES with funding support from CDC/IHVN under Educational Block Granting of FY18 grant year.

The Commissioning ceremony was a huge success, as representatives from IHVN and CDC, community leaders and chiefs, representatives from Gwagwalada Area Council and Education Board, including Angwan Kwaso L.E.A primary school management, teachers and the entire pupils of the school, as well as their parents were all in attendance to grace the occasion.

Mr. Erivona Philip, JCCI Project Finance Manager, who anchored the occasion, gave a brief success story on the block granting project. Thus in his words,

“Whenever the cloud is dark, the school closes for that day”. This, he said in reference to how poor weather condition used to interrupt learning experience as the pupils usually learnt under mango trees prior to the implementation of the block granting intervention. The soft spoken MC concluded the success story thus: “Today, we are no longer celebrating a block of 3 classrooms, but a resolution of a long lasting internal dispute regarding the land where this structure is put in place”.

The pupils thereafter gave several presentations as they showcased their individual talents and skills acquired over the course of learning during an entertaining session.

GOODWILL MESSAGES:-

Goodwill messages were entertained by different persons;

>>First was delivered by Mai Angwan Jagaba, Musa Abubakar, who noted that it was a good development having a block of 3 classrooms built in their community as this would help fast rack development in the community.

>>Chief Yakubu Iya (mai angwan Gwabere) in his own goodwill message preached about unity as he urged the community people to be united in pursuit of common interest and goal of the community.

>>The Hakimi of Angwan Kwaso, mallam Shuaibu Koso who also lent his voice during the goodwill messages emphasized the importance of education as a back bone of development in every community while noting that the block granting intervention would help to advance course of education in the land.

>>The Community Chief therefore applauded CDC/IHVN and JOMUROTA for the laudable project.

>>Dr Ernest Erong, Director, PCT from IHVN, expressed his delight at the colorful display by the pupils during their presentation while describing the pupils as future Professors, Technocrats and leaders in general. He commended JCCI for the successful completion of the block granting intervention and appreciated the community members for their contribution to the overall success of the project.

>>In addition, the Education Secretary from Gwagwalada Area Council, Mrs. Safiya Tukura described the block granting intervention as a timely one; hence, in her words:-

JOMUROTA is just like a divine intervention!”

>>The Education Secretary from Gwagwalada Area Council (ES), also showered praises on the CBO and IHVN for the landmark achievement while recounting on the experience they passed through as stakeholders in resolving the initial community crisis over where the block granting project was to be sited. She also
acknowledged the important role played by the Angwan Kwaso Community Chief at resolving the conflict, and finally thanked JOMUROTA, IHVN/CDC and her community people for their various sacrifices towards the
completion of the project.

Meanwhile, the official handing over of the Educational Block took place at about 12:pm, by a team comprising the ES, representatives from IHVN and the community leaders. The handing over ceremony officially brought the occasion to an end as participants were served with light refreshment thereafter.
