Jomurota Community Care Initiatives (JCCI) Had Psycho-social Activities With Some Caregivers And OVC At Central Ward Gwagwalada, Abuja

The Management and Staff of Jomurota Community Care Initiative had her psycho-social activities at the Gwagwalada central ward yesterday with some of the Caregivers and OVC enrolled in that particular community.

According to Naijafinix reporter, was present at the event when she was scouting for her daily news, this activity was held at the Pilot Science primary school, Gwagwalada with following number of her attendance:-

  1. The Program Manager (JCCI)
  2. The PSS Officer (JCCI)
  3. The Health Nutrition And Linkage Coordinator (JCCI)
  4. Pharmacist from UATH, Gwagwalada
  5. The Community Volunteers designated to that Ward (JCCI)
  6. 81 Children and 41 Caregivers enrolled under (JCCI)

According to Miss Ekoja E. Edna (PGO), She reported to us about the purpose of the event was to provide, parenting education, nutrition education, conduct AGYW meeting as well as provide vitamin A supplement and De-worming tablets to the vulnerable households. During which the nutrition officer (Bawa Samuel) provided about four(4) parenting education on the following topics:-

  1. Parenting Responsibilities.
  2. Children Temperament.
  3. Parenting Styles and,
  4. Stages of Child’s Development.

However, Miss Esther (Pharmacist from UATH) was in charge of administering of vitamin A supplement and De-worming tablets to the children, PSS officer handled the senior adolescent during which risk reduction strategies were taught using HIV prevention chart and cards. On the other hand, Ennaret Peter (community volunteer) facilitated AGYW meeting, where they were made to discuss freely on issues relating to Adolescents and reproductive health. Other services provided during the outreach were clothing support and health education for both senior Adolescents and OVC Caregivers to ensure healthy living.
