Barcelona have confirmed the extent of injuries suffered by two of their key players in Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid.
According to the official statement released Sunday, the duo of Gerrard Pique and Sergi Roberto are both set for long spells on the sidelines.
For Roberto, Barca on their official Twitter handle wrote: Tests performed this Sunday on @SergiRoberto10 have shown that he has a rupture in the femoral rectus of his right thigh. The approximate time he will be out is two months.
While for Pique, the club also wrote: Tests carried out this Sunday on @3gerardpique have shown that he has a grade 3 sprain in the internal lateral ligament and partial injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Barca failed to cash in on the stalemate recorded by Real Madrid against Villareal as they lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid.
They are presently 10th on the log after nine games with 11 points.
