A 25-year-old trader, Nasiru Ahmed, who broke into a man’s shop and stole salt and flour will receive 7 strokes of the cane, a Kaduna magistrates’ court has ordered.
Ahmed, who resides in Tudun Wada area of Kaduna was given the punishment by the court after pleading guilty to being charged with breaking into a shop and theft.
The prosecutor, Mr Chidi Leo told the court that one Malam Abdulmalik Lateef reported the matter at the Kawo Police Station on February 7.
Ahmed was accused of breaking into the complainant’s store located in Kawo Market, Kaduna, and stealing five bags of salt and two bags of flour.
Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel sentenced Ahmed after he pleaded guilty and begged for leniency.
