King Remanded Over Robbery In Ondo State

Oba Oluwambe Ojagbohunmi,

Oba Oluwambe Ojagbohunmi, a claimant to the throne of Ogeloyinbo of Ayetoro, Ondo state, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Akure Magistrate Court for alleged armed robbery, arson and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

But the court was unable to hear his plea in a nine-count charge preferred against him. Magistrate Mayomi Olanipekun, therefore, asked Oba Ojagbohunmi to be remanded in police custody.

The Police had accused the traditional ruler of conspiracy to commit felony to wit armed robbery.

The Police Prosecutor, Olatunji Kazeem, said the defendant with others at large, while being armed with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons did rob one Ajimijere Ayodele of a Tiger Generator and a sum of N160,000.

The monarch was also accused to have shot one Olu Obolo in the leg and macheted him at the rear pelvic girdle.

The Magistrate fixed the hearing of the case to January 24 and ordered that the defendant be remanded in police custody.
