Spain’s LaLiga has announced that it is currently “studying and analyzing the facts” surrounding the recent incident of alleged racist abuse directed towards Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. during Saturday’s match at Valencia’s Mestalla Stadium.
Despite the incident, Vinícius managed to score twice in the 2-2 draw against Valencia
LaLiga does not have the authority to impose penalties on clubs or fans independently. Instead, it is required to report incidents to the appropriate bodies, such as the committees of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) or regional prosecutors. These entities handle the cases as legal matters, and any subsequent sporting sanctions are determined through this process.
Vinícius has unfortunately been a repeated target of racist abuse from spectators during LaLiga matches over the past two seasons. This disturbing trend persisted during Real Madrid’s league fixture at Valencia last season, where he was once again subjected to racist taunts from the stands.
