Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers has calmed the frayed nerves of Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr after he declared in clear terms that Wilfred Ndidi’s days as a makeshift centre back are numbered. In a statement culled from BBC Leicester City sports twitter account, Rodgers expressed his delight and relief at seeing the Nigerian churned in a good performance in an unfamiliar role on Saturday. He then assured that Ndidi will soon move to his familiar midfield role in the coming days.Word was rife in Abuja that there was initial worry among NFF chieftains of possible injury fears after Ndidi was spotted as center-back barking out orders to his teammates in Leicester City 3-0 over West Brom last weekend. “Wilf is a player that I have real confidence in. He played the position very well and he has the attributes to play there. We don’t want him there for a long period of time” Rodgers said.

Leicester City play their first home game of the season as they welcome Burnley to the King Power Stadium on Sunday, but with Brendan Rodgers most likely to be without the suspended Jonny Evans following his red card on the final day of last season, Ndidi could once again be called upon in the tour of duty to play as stop-gap center back against Burnley.
