At long last, Liverpool are Premier League champions.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are the best in the land, but that doesn’t mean the Reds won’t continue to strive to improve.

Manchester City ’s failure this season serves as a warning to any side that grows complacent and doesn’t continue to move forward.

The Anfield club might not have been able to stump up the cash needed to stop Timo Werner from signing for Chelsea, but they are still the subject of much transfer speculation. Here are two of today’s biggest Liverpool transfer stories.

Alcantara says farewell to teammates

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has said goodbye to his teammates amid speculation that he could be on his way out of the club, with Liverpool interested.

Bild (via the Evening Standard) claims the Spanish international is determined to push through a move to the Premier League this summer and has already told teammates at the Allianz Arena that he is off.

Liverpool are believed to be leading the pursuit of the 29-year-old, with an asking price of £72million reportedly set by Bayern Munich for the midfielder.

Thiago made the move to the Allianz Arena in 2013 amid similar circumstances, turning down the offer of a new contract at Barcelona to force through a transfer to Bayern Munich. He could now do similar again.

Hertha Berlin in talks to keep Reds midfielder on loan

Marko Grujic has spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Hertha Berlin and it is possible the Liverpool midfielder could stay in the German capital beyond the summer.

The 24-year-old is set to return to Liverpool at the end of his loan deal, but Hertha Berlin sporting director Michael Preetz has confirmed the club’s intention to keep Grujic for at least another season if possible.

“Of course, we are in talks with Liverpool. Last summer, a door opened. Jurgen Klopp signalled to me that they were ready to loan Marko for another year,” Preetz told Kicker (via Sport Witness).

“Now they want him back and he should complete the [pre-season] preparation there. I cannot say today what will happen. But Marko is a player we will always think about here at Hertha.”
