Liverpool might have ended a 30-year quest to win another league title, but they will need to perform just as well next season if they are to retain their crown.

It’s looking like Jurgen Klopp will need to keep Manchester City at bay with virtually the same squad  as he currently has.

The Reds declined to sign Timo Werner due to the finances involved, even though it looked certain that the RB Leipzig forward would be moving to Merseyside.

Even so, while transfer business may prove to be thin on the ground at Anfield this summer, there are no shortage of players being linked with moves either to or from the club.

Here’s a selection of the latest Liverpool transfer news stories.

Young full-back looks likely to leave

Liverpool have given first-team appearances to many young players in the domestic cups this season, as Klopp looked to protect his first team and keep them fit for their main target of winning the league.

One of the youngsters who featured against Everton and Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup now looks set to leave.

Yasser Larouci, a 19-year-old Algerian left-back, appears to be on his way to either Leeds United or Brentford, according to the Evening Standard.

Both clubs might be in the Premier League next season, so despite his opportunities at Liverpool being fairly limited, Larouci may yet be playing in the top flight after all.

Brazilian youngster unlikely to make Anfield move

Kopites won’t need reminding about the brilliance of Kaka, after the Brazilian starred against them in a pair of Champions League finals with Milan.

It seems they won’t get to see the ‘new Kaka’ though.

The pressure-carrying nickname has been bestowed upon Igor Gomes, who currently plays for Sao Paulo.

The 21-year-old had been linked with a move to Anfield, but any hopes of the transfer appear to be  over after his club banked £4million by selling Gustavo Maia to Barcelona.

ESPN (via the Liverpool Echo) reported that Sao Paolo’s financial difficulties meant they had to sell Gomes.

That is no longer the case, so Liverpool will have to look elsewhere.

Lallana set to receive plenty of offers

It has been widely rumoured that Adam Lallana will reunite with his former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers this summer.

The 32-year-old is out of contract and will shortly be leaving the Premier League champions.

Leicester City boss Rodgers signed Lallana during his time in the Anfield hotseat, and clearly wants to bring the hard-pressing, Cruyff-turning midfielder into his squad.

However, it appears Rodgers is not alone. The Daily Star reports that Burnley and Brighton & Hove  Albion are also interested in signing Lallana.

Whether the former Southampton man heads back to  the south coast, stays in the north west or starts a new life in the midlands remains to be seen.
