Man Shot As Soldiers Rescue Senator Who Was Held Hostage By Protesters (Graphic)

A young man has sustained injuries from stray bullets fired by soldiers who rescued Senator Joshua Lidani from the Emir’s palace in Gombe state where he was held hostage by irate youth on political ground. Thereafter, another five Police vehicle reportedly arrived the scene to evacuate the Senator’s vehicles.

The injured youth was rushed to specialist hospital in Talasse, Gombe town.

It was reported that he senator representing Gombe South, Joshua Lidani, was held hostage by protesters in his constituency. It was gathered that Mr. Lidani paid an unscheduled visit to Talasse town, the headquarters of Balanga Local Government Area to meet with political associates.

The protesters reportedly asked the senator to come out and “answer some of their questions.”

A team of soldiers serving in Talasse town finally freed the senator after storming the area.

Report has it that the soldiers were at first confronted by the protesters when they arrived and sought to free the Senator. Sensing danger, the soldiers began to fire indiscriminately into the air forcing the protesters to disperse in different directions.
