Manchester United could pull out in the race to Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon with the Los Blancos directors reportedly insistent on including a £27million buy-back clause in the deal.

The defender was impressive for Sevilla, he featured against Manchester United and helped Julen Lopetegui’s side to the Europa League against Inter Milan.

Reguilon is not Zinedine Zidane’s plan but the gaffer is interested in selling him and wants a deal that would see the left-back made a return to Bernabeu in the nearest future.

Manchester United is willing to sanction a deal for the Real Madrid academy product but the Old Trafford side does not want to include a buy-back clause, according to Spanish show El Partidazo de COPE.

Reguilon will be down the pecking order at Real Madrid with Zidane favouring Frenchman Ferland Mendy and Marcelo.

Napoli is keeping tabs on Reguilon’s situation but the Red Devils are leading the race despite the recent twist in the deal to sign the defender.

Real Madrid wants Reguilon to follow the path of Dani Carvajal, the defender was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen and was later re-signed by the club.

Manchester United is keen to strengthen the left-back position considering Luke Shaw’s injury history at the club.
