Meet The 11-Year-Old Boy Who Was Left With Blood-Red Eyes After Lengthy Coronavirus Battle In Hospital

Oliver Schultz, a little lad is recovering after falling victim to a rare side-effect from coronavirus.

The situation even lead to his heart being inflamed.

Oliver Schultz was diagnosed with multi-system inflammatory syndrome – a condition that leads to different body parts becoming severely inflamed.

For the 11-year-old schoolboy, his hands went bright red and his eyes badly bloodshot as he lay in hospital battling the cruel infection.

Hailing from Pennsylvania, Oliver needed treatment in intensive care at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.

MIS-C only seems to affect younger coronavirus patients, according to reports. It causes organs such as the heart, lung and kidneys to become inflamed, and can also cause the brain, skin and eyes to be irritated.

Originally, Oliver’s concerned mum thought he was just low on fluids when she took him to see a doctor, The Mirror reported.

He immediately tested positive for Covid-19 before being diagnosed with MIS-C.

The horse-riding enthusiast is now home, and focussing on getting better.

He said: “It’s what I love to do and I don’t feel the same without riding my horse every day.”

His mum, Aimee, told WPXI that there is not a lot of information out there about the rare condition.
