On thursday 28th of february a federal high court sitting in port-harcourt nullified the governorship candidacy of Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs as the flagbearer of the Accord party in Rivers State.
According to justice Emmanuel Obile,Chief Lulu Briggs is “unfit to contest in the governorship elections because he didnt participate in the party’s primaries last year.
Justice Obile ordered INEC to
replace his name with that of Mr Precious Baridoo,a man that is
relatively unknown in the political scene in the state.
Mr Baridoo is from same senatorial district and same ethnic group (Ogoni) with senator Magnus Abe.
Here
are some quick facts you need to know about the Mr Baridoo,the man that
might be replacing governor Nyesom Wike at the Rivers state Brick house
come may.
* His name is Baridoo Precious
* He is from Bane in Khana local government area of Rivers state.
*He
studied environmental technology at the federal university of
technology,Owerri,Imo state and a diploma the petroleum training
institute,Effurun Delta State.
*He is married with kids.
With
the All progressives congress ,APC not contesting in next week,s
gubernatorial elections,the accord party is the only viable party in the
state to challenge the incumbent governor Nyesom Wike.
The
Ogoni’s have always cried of marginalisation in the state and have never
produced a governor or deputy since the creation of the oil rich state.
Is
mr Baridoo going to get the adequate support from his kinsmen and other
tribes in the state in order to re-write history? Only time will tell!
