Five out of the seven matches held on night two were decided in the final legs, showcasing intense competition. This included Michael van Gerwen’s victory over Smith and Luke Littler’s elimination of world champion Luke Humphries in the semi-finals. The final itself was a thrilling encounter that went the distance.
This showdown between the Dutch dart player and Littler marked their third meeting in finals in 2024. Littler had previously triumphed in the Bahrain Darts Masters, while Van Gerwen had secured victory in the Dutch Darts Masters.
Although Van Gerwen suffered defeat in the quarter-finals on the opening night in Cardiff, he bounced back strongly in Germany, consistently achieving averages exceeding 100 in all three of his matches.
Only Nathan Aspinall and Peter Wright have yet to secure a victory in this year’s Premier League. However, both players demonstrated significantly improved performances in their quarter-final defeats to Van Gerwen and Humphries, respectively.
