Minister Of State For The Foreign Affairs Resigns (Read More)
Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Khadija Ibrahim, has resigned her appointment to contest the Damaturu/Tarmuwa/Gujba/Gulani Federal Constituency seat in the forthcoming election.
She contested against her stepson, Mohammed Bukar-Ibrahim and two others including the serving representative Abdullahi Kukuwa and Alhaji Ahmed Buba during the All Progressives Congress’s primary in October 2018.
It was gathered that in spite of pressures mounted on Mohammed to step down for his father’s wife, he refused but Kukuwa and Buba stepped down for the minister.
Ibrahim, however, polled 1,295 votes to defeat Mohammed who scored only 15 votes.
The former minister was elected member of the House of Representatives under the party’s platform in 2015 before she joined President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet in 2016.
