Namibia won its first-ever Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Tuesday, pulling off a historic upset over Tunisia 1-0.
When Namibia made its fourth AFCON appearance, it had lost seven and drawn two of their previous nine finals games.
The 2004 AFCON champion Tunisia is the top seed in Group E, but with Mali and South Africa remaining to play, they will have a difficult road to the knockout stages.
On January 16, 2024, during the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2024 group E football match between Tunisia and Namibia at Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo, midfielder #10 Anis Ben Slimane (C) of Tunisia and defender #18 Aprocius Petrus battle for the ball.
Namibia’s defense was too strong for Tunisia to overcome.
Next up for Tunisia is a challenging match against the second-seeded Mali, where a loss would probably cast doubt on their qualification, while Namibia takes on South Africa in a match that should be easy.
