Oil theft Navy turns over suspects and a vessel in the Delta and Lagos

Four alleged oil thieves were turned up to the Lagos State Police Command by the Nigerian Navy on Friday.

At the handover of the suspects to the state police headquarters in Ikeja, NNS Beecroft Commander Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga stated that the suspects were apprehended by Nigerian Navy personnel stationed at FOB Lekki after locals raised the alarm after hearing gunshots from the water.

Oguntuga said that the men were accompanying a sizable wooden boat carrying 11,000 liters of crude oil that they were rumored to be stealing.

In a similar development, the Nigerian Navy Ship NNS Delta on Friday turned over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission an impounded vessel, MT TECHNE, containing allegedly stolen crude oil worth 1,905,836 MT.

At the NNS Delta Jetty in Warri, Delta State, the Executive Officer, Capt. Solomon Paul, on behalf of the Commander, Commodore Chindo Yahaya, NNS Delta, handed the vessel over to the EFCC.
