The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service has cautioned inhabitants to cease from putting fuel in vehicles.
On Friday in Abuja. Mr Timveh Jerry, office’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) gave the charge while speaking with newsmen
He said that it had been seen that individuals were in the habit for purchasing and storing fuel in gallons.
“When you store fuel in a wind up vehicle there is every tendency for heat to be trapped in such vehicle.
“Because fuel is inflammable it will always want to look for a means of escape which is what we call ‘Evaporation’.
“As they keep evaporating, they circulate in that vehicle and once this evaporated inflammable air come in contact with any ignitable it will explode,” Jerry said.
He included that the service had set out on a few sensitisation projects to teach people in general against such disposition as it was a constant procedure by the administration.
Jerry additionally exhorted filling station owners against discharging fuel when the climate is hot to avoid flame flare-up or unexpected.
