Lagos – Okiki Afolabi, a former Sunshine Stars of Akure forward, who is presently playing for Ismaily of Egypt, may be banned by FIFA following his alleged presentation of a forged document during his transfer from an Ethiopian club to Ismaily.

Presently, the player has been reportedly fined by the Ethiopian Football Federation because of the same issue.

The 23-year-old striker was lastly playing for Jimma Aba Jifar in Ethiopia where he finished as the league’s top scorer with 23 goals as they won the title on goal difference.

According to BBC Africa report, the Nigerian forward, who presented a fraud document during his transfer to Egypt side Ismaily SC, is awaiting a FIFA transfer ban after the EFF Discipline Committee filed a complaint to football’s governing body.

Jimaa Aba Jifar also condemned the act of the player and inquired to the EFF Discipline Committee about fining the player. Meanwhile, it has been reported that an apology to the EFF and the Ethiopian club from Afolabi could minimize FIFA’s potential sanction, according to the report.

The report is coming just weeks after Salisu Yusuf, Super Eagles chief coach was enmeshed in bribery scandal, where a video from BBC revealed the coach collecting bribe from a supposed players’ agent and accepting to feature his players at the last Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
